Rehabilitation after hip surgery
After your operation, you will be allowed to put weight on the operated hip. On the same day, you will already start rehabilitation; mobilisation and exercise under the supervision of a physiotherapist from the hospital.
He/she will also practise getting in and out of bed safely with you. Exercising with walking involves using a stretcher, a walker and/or crutches. It varies from person to person what is considered comfortable. If possible, you will also practise climbing stairs.
Further rehabilitation is provided by Medifit HCB at care hotel Daniya in Denia or at care hotel Residencia Ciudad Patricia in Benidorm.
Treatment and stay at Ciudad Patricia rehabilitation centre
For patients with higher levels of care needs, such as type 1 diabetes, for example, there is rehabilitation at the Ciudad Patricia rehabilitation centre in Benidorm.
As soon as you are discharged from HCB hospital, you will be picked up by staff from Ciudad Patricia and taken to the rehabilitation centre in Benidorm.
Here you will stay with your partner* (if any) in a spacious room with balcony on a full-board basis.
Under the supervision of a rehabilitation doctor, you will work on further recovery with a team of physiotherapists. So that you can function independently again after a few weeks. Ciudad Patricia’s facilities include a rehabilitation pool in which various exercises are also performed.
Rehabilitation and stay at Medifit Daniya rehabilitation centre
After the operation and 1 or 2 days’ stay at HCB hospital, you will be transferred to the Medifit rehabilitation centre in Denia. Here you will stay on a full-board basis. Rehabilitation is carried out in treatment rooms, exercise rooms and indoor swimming pool (if possible).
The hip rehabilitation programme stems from a collaboration between social workers, medical and paramedical specialists specialising in hip replacements.
For years, Medifit has designed a comprehensive scientifically based treatment programme for recovery after hip surgery. This programme has a duration of 3 weeks on site. We will help you build up your strength, general fitness and get back to your daily activities.
