It was such a relief to be operated on in Denia by Dr. Kleijn! For me, the combination of a top surgeon and intensive rehabilitation on site after the operation was perfect. Dr. Kleijn is highly involved and very approachable, which is so reassuring when questions arise during recovery – you receive an immediate and clear response.

Everything was smoothly and professionally organised. The hospital in Denia is excellent: I had a private room, calm and comfortable, with friendly and caring staff who really take the time to support your recovery. I was operated on a Tuesday and moved to the care hotel on Friday, where Hipfix has a partnership with Medifit.

There were in-house physiotherapists, daily physiotherapy sessions, as well as physio-fitness and a wide range of additional therapy options. Compare that to the Netherlands, where you’re often sent home within a day after surgery and largely left to figure things out on your own…

And I haven’t even mentioned the Spanish sunshine in November!

 My right hip replacement surgery was performed by Dr Lucas Kleijn in Denia hospital. He used the anterior approach, which has excellent results in terms of recovery, only 1% chance of dislocation. I highly recommend Dr Kleijn, his team and all the staff at Healthcare Abroad. Everything from start to finish ran smoothly. No long waiting times or delays. The after care is excellent, 10 rounds of physio therapy provided by Vicent and his team of physiotherapists at the hospital. The whole experience has been positive from first contact with Healthcare Abroad, excellent care during my hospital stay and top quality rehabilitation after surgery. Dr Kleijn is an excellent communicator and a pleasure to deal with. He is approachable and takes great care and interest in his patients.

The minute I met Dr Kleijn I knew I was in safe hands. I trusted him immediately. I am allergic to morphine and opiods. He honoured this. He is professional, compassionate and kind. Some people are born to be surgeons. Dr Kleijn is one. He was helpful in every possible way. Open and honest. My operation was 3rd December 2025. I have been driving after 5 weeks. I’m back at Aqua Fit Classes. Been to weddings and funerals. Out for lunch and dinner. Taking dogs to lake etc etc. I need my 2nd hip done in time. Dr Kleijn is the only surgeon for me.

 On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, I underwent hip surgery at HCB in Denia.
An operation is physically and emotionally demanding, and trust in your doctor is very important. Dr. Kleijn was not a doctor I knew, but after just one consultation I already had complete confidence in his expertise.

At the end of last year, I got in touch with Dr. Kleijn through my friend Ted Simons. Both of them clearly and extensively explained to me what the options were. This made it possible for me to undergo hip surgery in Denia, Spain, at short notice.

Last week the operation took place. It is a very professional team. The care in the hospital was fantastic. The guidance from Dr. Kleijn is exceptional. He is involved with all his patients, even at the rehabilitation hotel.

l  In September 2024, I first contacted Hipfix for information about hip surgery, and the contact was immediately very pleasant, quick and clear. My decision was made quickly after a conversation with the doctor to have my operation carried out in Denia. Hipfix makes sure that everything is arranged for you before you go and while you are there, so you have to do little to nothing yourself.

In January 2025, I had my hip surgery in Denia via the anterior approach, performed by Dr. Lucas Kleijn. He is a very skilled doctor who takes you seriously, listens carefully and makes you feel very comfortable. Dr. Kleijn is very approachable and highly involved with his patients.

The stay at HCB Hospitals, the care hotel and the rehabilitation provided by Medifit were all absolutely wonderful. Very kind, pleasant and professional people who truly contribute to a good recovery. I can certainly recommend Dr. Lucas Kleijn and Hipfix!    Sylvia

Would highly recommend Lucas as a Consultant/Surgeon. There was no rushing in terms of pre and after care consultations. He was always extremely caring and allowed plenty of time to run through the whole process and to answer questions at every stage. The entire Healthcare Abroad team and all staff in the Hospital provided top notch service. The aftercare provided was outstanding, from all involved, in particular from Lucas and the Physio staff. Dr Kleijn gave me my life back. From the moment I met him he had this kind friendly approach never rushed you in a consultation. He did my right hip last November(2024) with extreme succes so it was a no brainer when I was booking to have my left done Lucas was the man. Dr. Kleijn is a kind of surgical Rembrandt. Plus, he’s a consummate gentleman, courageously honest, yet caring & considerate. He helped me overcome a profound fear of the operation & get TWO new hips (yes, at the same time) so I no longer walk like Quasimodo & have moved beyond the depression that comes from years of constant pain. 3 months post-surgery I was back at the gym & also reformer pilates. I had my hip replacement done by Dr Lucas Kleijn at HCB Denia hospital. He is an excellent surgeon who has carried out over 2000 anterior hip replacement’s which has the benefit of faster recovery time and using the anterior procedure has a lot of other benefits.I would highly recommend. Anthony
