Lucas Kleijn has been working as an orthopaedic surgeon at the Elkerliek hospital In Helmond since 2005, where he has applied the anterior approach for all hip replacements since 2011. A technique characterised by an extremely smooth recovery. In the process, he has already kept more than 2,000 people happily mobile.
Lucas Kleijn also works one day a week at the Waalre Medical Centre and has started a partnership with the HCB Hospital in Denia since 2023.


Drs Lucas Kleijn is a member of the Dutch Orthopedic Association (NOV) and a member of the shoulder working group within the NOV.

Dr. Lucas Kleijn (1971) graduated as a doctor from Maastricht University. During his medical studies, he developed a strong interest in orthopaedic surgery, a passion that was further solidified by his work experience in the Traumatology departments in Innsbruck and Cairo.
He completed his specialization in Orthopaedic Surgery at Atrium MC in Heerlen and AZM in Maastricht. Dr. Kleijn has been performing hip surgeries since 1998, and this remains a central part of his practice today. Initially trained in the lateral approach, he later adopted the anterior approach, which has been his standard method since 2011.
Patients describe him as friendly, calm, and attentive, ensuring they feel at ease throughout their treatment.
After completing his training in 2005, Drs. Lucas Kleijn joined the orthopaedic surgery partnership at Elkerliek Hospital in Helmond. In the summer of 2016, he and his family relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, where he spent a year further specializing in shoulder conditions.
In his free time, Dr. Kleijn enjoys spending time with his family, music, cycling, and gardening.
