  • HCB Denia is a full hospital with an Intensive care unit, internists and cardiologists, you can usually just go here.
t

When can I safely take a flight again

  • For the relatively short flight back to Ireland or England, due to slightly increased risk of thrombosis, it is recommended not to do this until 2-3 weeks after surgery. Through blood thinners in the first weeks after surgery, the risk of thrombosis is kept low. But the risk is not zero even under blood thinning. In case of severe swelling of the leg or sudden shortness of breath, report this. Undertaking a longer flight immediately after surgery increases the risk of thrombosis
t

I want to bring my partner, is that possible?

  • Yes, during your rehabilitation, your partner can stay in one room with you. You do pay a small fee for this.
t

Can I drive again after hip surgery using the anterior approach?

  • Six weeks after surgery, you may drive a car again. If you want to start driving earlier, consult your car insurance company first. Keep in mind that it may take another three to six months before you are fully recovered.
t

How do you sleep after hip replacement via the anterior approach?

  • Unlike other surgery methods, after hip surgery using the anterior approach, you may sleep in whatever position you like. It is not necessary, but if you feel comfortable, you may put a pillow between your legs. Put your legs up if there is swelling in the leg, this can also be done while sitting. You can possibly put a pillow under the mattress so that your legs are higher than your hip.
